Xcom patch 1

Posted 18 August - PM I still like my geoscape to go at the speed of a gradeschooler counting. Why does everything cool not work? Posted 21 August - AM Did you try disabling directdraw and then running the alien voices patch? Posted 21 August - AM did you try to use the 2xSai patch see post 5 with it?

Posted 28 August - PM nice work! Posted 06 September - AM hey, how do i get rid of the timer thing though? Posted 07 September - AM Yo uneed both part, you just don't extract the exe.

The screams are a lot better! Posted 08 September - PM Jeez, sorry for not responding for such a long time. Can you please reply to dddffee verizon. Posted 09 September - AM Jeez, sorry for not responding for such a long time. Both executables worked for me without changing direct draw settings. Sounds are great arn't they. The fullscreen filter is amazing, even though I don't like the way the world screen updates, I love the sounds and fullscreen filter so much that I won't use any other exe.

Posted 09 September - AM Yeah, that filter is really cool, huh? Though the geoscape clock was intentionally "fixed," it does seem a bit jerkier, doesn't it? Well, at least the globe itself looks that much cooler.

I decided to sit and let each piece of music loop again, including the "landing near downed UFO" track, and it happened with everything. The sounds start to "grind" a bit on the 2nd playthrough on out. Not a big deal, but still puzzling, nonetheless As for the game working correctly for you, I think it's just a video card thing.

Some cards run older games perfectly, others--well--you know what I mean. Disabling Direct Draw allowed me to run the 2xSai. Clever patch, that. Posted 09 September - AM You need a compressor software: winrar, rarlab, 7-zip, winace Posted 10 September - PM is there any free way to open. Posted 11 September - AM You need a compressor software: winrar, rarlab, 7-zip, winace Here I go an angry brother gonna make his move But can I buck him in the city so I never lose?

Posted 11 September - AM you mean like winzip i have on my back computer? Okay, sure, thanks. Posted 11 September - AM It does seem to replace the voices by the original ones, which is cool. BUT, it also seems to accelerate everything again, so if I move my mouse to the edge of the screen in the battlescape, it'll move 3 screens This is really annoying and I can't play like this scroll rate is set to 1 already.

Is there any way to resolve this? Posted 11 September - AM The. Well, you should be able to run the game using the sound files by simply running another.

You use Xcomutil, right? You can just load the game using that, and since the files are replaced, you'll still get the neat classic sounds. Unfortunately, the intro will be normal, but heck, we've started skipping that after the th time, right? Posted 11 September - AM I don't have that problem myself--the only thing that urks me is the "jerky" geoscape not complaining, of course! That seems to have worked! Thanks a bunch. I also deleted your double post.

Posted 11 September - AM Why thanks. What does it mean "it will turn it into Windows CE ver"? What if i only copy the sound files? The game will crash? Ros you can just copy the sound files, and it'll work. Posted 23 September - AM you can just copy the sound files, and it'll work.

I did it and death screams are still from DOS 1. I've copied Sample 2 and Sample 3 CAT files but game is using old ones which is very strange because i replaced them.

Any sugestions? If I had any clue on how to hack it I'd do it myself, even if syncing it up like the original would take time. Y'know--strange that's the one thing I can't remember anything about from days of old. Ah, probably because I made it a habit to skip the intro constantly, I think Yeah but i have to use 1.

So i've copied sound files from Voice Patch but it didn't worked. Still don't know why. Posted 11 October - AM Did you configured the sound with install. I guess you did, but anyway, so you can't say I didn't asked. Posted 13 October - AM i also use the patched dos version. Would be great!! Posted 04 November - PM Ok this is great It really bugs me off! ISnt there any one out there who can make one exe where there are these things: Sounds in the intro, better dying sounds, 2xsai filter and work in xp?

This all is only because I want my xcom to be perfect and if the geoscape doesnt run smoothly it isnt:P. Posted 05 November - AM Here is the executable again with fixed 2xSai problem on some gfx cards.

For people who'd like to speed up the geomap, get a normal hex editor, open the file and go to offset 68EF7 hex. If you want the game to be 5 times faster, just replace by , so change the E8, 03 to C8, 00 and that's all, the game is faster.

Crashes don't even matter to me. I don't need ironman mode for some kind of self importance thats not real. The long loading is a crux because if it loaded fast a crash every now and then wouldnt matter.

The frame rate is just terrible on some maps. It's a state of this dev and publisher should be called out on it. It shouldn't be acceptable and the people behind it should be ashamed of their work. N1K3 3 years ago Well, even with this new patch, the game still won't import my character pool from the base game, which is just beyond frustrating.

Are y'all getting access to your original character pools, or is your list empty like mine? Any concrete difference post patch? I've got it on the XB1, not the 1X I really wanna finish my wotc campaign and this seems like I might be able to but I'm still seeing mixed posts about the patch.

N1K3 posted It's not importing my list either. I checked the character pool, started a new game, beat the first mission, checked my soldiers and available recruits, and saw no one from my base game character pool any of those times.

I haven't played that much more post-patch, but so far I haven't noticed a difference post-patch in the overall performance.

Does the patch need a patch? Teddytalks 3 years ago The patch notes seem to address every major crash I had with the game. No more crashes on enemy spawn or pod discovery, hangs with events not triggering, etc.
